Dive Into the New Age of Rape Test Kits with SAtB
Supporting Higher Education
We actively work with senior undergraduate Biomedical Engineering students and provide them an opportunity to work on this mission as part of a Capstone project.
Innovative Microfluidic Device
Our innovative design is the housing unit for the biological testing. The device is constructed to be compact, reusable, multi-functional, and user friendly.
Efficient Biotechnology Approach
Through a biotechnology method known as enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA), we create efficient testings for biologics such as amylase, blood, and semen.
Making A Difference
We recognize the seriousness of rape test kit backlogs and the impact it plays on victims' lives. In addition to our device and biotech, we work to form connections with crime laboratories and have a strong outreach community.
We Speed Up & Minimize Testing
Sexual assault kits (SAKs) are backlogged due to a long multistep process in current testing methods. Crime labs examine three main biologics - blood, semen, and saliva. All of these are detected by different tests which all take days to complete separately. SAtB aims to eliminate the backlog by simplifying and speeding up the method by testing for all three biologics on one microfluidic device. From weeks of inspection, SAtB will reduce the methods to minutes.
